Manchee began a 50 event book tour as the book was launched. June 16, 2007 - Manchee attends the SW Mystery Writers of America, Hardboiled Heroes and Cozy Cats, conference held at the Radisson Hotel in Dallas, Texas. The annual event is held to bring together writers, editors and agents to discuss their business and share experiences and ideas. This was the first year it was held in Dallas. June 1, 2007 - Manchee Celebrates the Completion of First Science Fiction/Fantasy Novel, Tarizon:The Liberator. William Manchee has finished the first book of his science fiction/fantasy trilogy and is now on the lookout for an agent to represent him. The series is about a fictional sister planet of Earth that has suffered a series of super volcanic eruptions that have killed millions and poisoned the atmosphere. When a delegation from Tarizon comes to Earth for help the U.S. Government makes a deal with them to trade technology for assistance. The nature of the assistance, however, is top secret and if it ever got out there would be a great public outrage. know them better and learn more about their works. August 20, 2006 - Manchee addressed the Sisters-In-Crime Dallas Chapter at Half Price Books on Northwest Highway today. He talked about his Stan Turner Mystery series, how he got started writing, and answered questions from the group. August 14, 2006 - Cactus Island was a featured title in the Publisher's Marketing Association's fall advance advertisement in Publisher's Weekly this week. This issue is used by bookstores to determine their fall and Christmas orders. August 12, 2006 - Manchee kicked off his Cactus Island promotion with a book signing at Barnes & Noble in Tyler, Texas. The event went very well and sales were brisk. Manchee reported that because of the science fiction angle in the book there were more young adult and science fiction customers than usual. May 18, 2006 - Manchee ran into best selling author Lee Child at Barnes & Noble in Bryn Mawr, PA. They were both signing in the store. The two exchanged autographed books and wished each other well. April 10, 2006 - It was announced today that William Manchee will be the guest of Sisters-in-Crime, Dallas Chapter, for their monthly meeting on August 20, 2006 at Half Price Books on Northwest Highway. March 15, 2006 - Manchee will be providing a sneak preview of the next Stan Turner Mystery to the attendees at Book Expo America being held this year in Washington, DC. Book Expo is the premier event of the book industry in the United States. Manchee will sign limited edition hardback copies of Cactus Island on Sunday, May 20, 2006 during the Salute to Science Fiction Autographing program. The Stan Turner Mysteries have always been a paperback series, so this will be the first time the volume will also be available in a hardback edition. January 2, 2006 - Barnes & Noble, Tulsa, OK Names Manchee as Author of the Month. Manchee has been named author of the month in the Tulsa District of Barnes & Noble for the month of January 2006. December 2, 2005 - Manchee Signs with Top Publications, Ltd. for his sixth Stan Turner Mystery. William Manchee announced he has signed a contract with Top Publications, Ltd. for the publication of another Stan Turner Mystery, Cactus Island, to be released this summer. The new novel will be Manchee's first venture into the realm of science fiction as Stan's client claims the cause of a tragic jeep accident, that took the life of a boy scout, was caused by an alien spacecraft. November 10, 2005 - Lean Press to cease operations. William Manchee's publisher, Lean Press, is suspending publication of further novels. The two year old Oregon Press old will continue to make its current titles available through its regular distributors for the indefinite future. An officer of the company cited distribution issues and difficulty getting bookstores to accept books from small publishers contributed to the shutdown. The company may reopen again at a later date. Lean Press is Manchee's third publisher to go cease operations. The first was Commonwealth Publications which published his second book, Undaunted. The company shut down just as it was to be released and the first Stan Turner Mystery sat in the warehouse over a year while litigation in Canada ensued. Two years later Research Triangle Press, the publisher of Brash Endeavor, filed for relief under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code. Fortunately, Brash Endeavor had already been released and was in stock with the distributors and wholesalers. June 25, 2005 - Manchee Begins Black Monday Promotional Tour - William Manchee appeared at Barnes & Noble in South Arlington, Texas today for his first bookstore appearance in conjunction with his new Stan Turner Mystery, the 6th in the popular series, Black Monday. Manchee was published by a small Canadian press he realized, much to his dismay, that his
publisher would be doing very little to promote his book. But by this time he had realized
that writing was his true passion in life and had no intention of letting anything get in
the way of success. He immediately began researching and experimenting with various
marketing techniques. It wasn't long before he learned a reality of the publishing
industry--the major presses had a lock on the distribution system and it was extremely
difficult for an author from a small press to get their titles into the bookstores. In
fact, the only sure way it seemed was to talk the store into letting the author have a
signing at the store. If they agreed, they would buy books, and hopefully, keep them in

He will discuss the Second Chair and the other Stan Turner Mysteries. March 31, 2001 - Manchee and 16 other Texas Authors will be guests at the Poteet Strawberry Festival April 6-8th. The Poteet Strawberry Festival is one of the Top 250 events in the U.S. Over 100,000 people are expected on the 100 acre site 20 minutes South of San Antonio. March 3, 2001 - Manchee was a guest on Brazos Valley, This Morning, the local Bryan, TX CBS affiliate, Channel 3. He discussed the Stan Turner Mystery series and his local appearances on Friday. Later he was on the Midday Show. Many viewers showed up at his later signings to get a copy of Second Chair. February 24, 2001 - Second Chair moved into the Top Ten Bestseller List at Hervey's Booklink this week. Hervey's distributes thousands of books throughout the country and this week Second Chair was ranked #4. February 1, 2000 - Undaunted will have a slightly different look with the third printing is complete in March. Rather than a glossy cover it will have the same matte finish as the Brash Endeavor and Second Chair. Additionally the background has been altered to make it more mysterious. November 20, 2000 - Manchee's next novel, In Search of A Virgin, is completed and put into production. It is set for a summer release. See Synopsis. October 28, 2000 - Manchee speaks at the University of North Texas Craft of Writing Conference in Denton, Texas on "Getting Published Through the Back Door." October 14, 2000 - Manchee is a featured guest and speaker at the Trinity Writers Conference in Fort Worth. September 21, 2000 - This week is the New England Booksellers Association Trade Show. Manchee will attend the show and then head off on his New England Book Tour. He will be gone form September 21 thru October 1st. This will conclude his 51 city tour. September 16, 2000 - Manchee speaks on Small Presses, On-Demand and E-Publishing at the SW Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America's annual conference in Houston, TX. September 7, 2000 - Manchee heads for Bouchercon and his Rocky Mountain segment of his Second Chair promotional tour. He'll attend the World Mystery Conference in Denver and do 7 signings there and back. July 13, 2000 - Manchee will be attending Cluefest and will be a panelist on several panels along with two other Top Publication authors, Tricia Allen and L.C. Hayden. July 11, 2000 - The Southwest Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America invites Manchee to be a guest speaker at their annual writer's conference to be held September 16, 2000 in Houston. Manchee will join Carole Nelson Douglas and Mary Willis Walker as featured speakers. July 7, 2000 - Manchee travels to Waco, Friendswood, Sugar Land and College Station to sign a Waldenbooks. The signings are all very successful. June 3, 2000 - San Angelo's NBC Affiliate showed up for Manchee's first book signing at Hastings in San Angelo, Texas. The event was a big success and a segment aired on the 10:30pm news. June 1, 2000 - The Tarrant County College has invited Bill to conduct a program at the Trinity Writers' Workshop at Hurst Campus. The event will be featured on TEXAS MONTHLY magazine's website and with a full page ad in the August issue of the FORT WORTH, TEXAS magazine. April 20, 2000 - The University of North Texas and the Greater Dallas Writers Association have asked Manchee to conduct a writers workshop at their 18th Annual Writers Conference to be held October 27-28th at the UNT campus in Denton. March 25, 2000 - William Manchee will be organizing Texas Mystery Writers Week in Dallas this year. Texas Mystery Week is May 6-13th and will feature panels of Texas mystery authors throughout the state. The Dallas area events will be at Barnes & Noble, Lincoln Park, Irving Mall and N. Richland Hills. March 17, 2000 - This week Manchee is in Tucson, AZ for Left Coast Crime. He will appear on a panel discussing the mystery series. Later he will do signings throughout Arizona as well as Las Vegas. February 27, 2000 - Manchee begins a swing through Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee to promote Death Pact. January 25, 2000 - The Southwest Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America re-elects Manchee as secretary. He also will continue to be their webmaster. January 7, 2000 - Second Chair, the third Stan Turner Mystery is complete and already in production. Pre-publication copies will be going out to reviewers later this month. The official release date is June 1, 2000. October 18, 1999 - The Book Reader, America's Most Independent Reviewer of New Books, gives Manchee's novel, Death Pact, a rave review in its Fall/Winter 1999/2000 edition. Read the Review September 23, 1999 - Manchee is off to the UMBA Trade Show and then to the World Mystery conference, Bouchercon 30, in Milwaukee. He'll be going a dozen books signings along the way. September 22, 1999 - The next Stan Turner Mystery, Ca$h Call, is all ready for release next year. Manchee has also completed a screen play adaptation of the novel which he hopes to be promoting simultaneously with the novel. September 21, 1999 - Top Publications has signed with a New York rights agency that will be showing the Top Pub titles at the Frankfurt, Germany Book Fair. This is where most foreign language translation deals are made. This agency also represents John Grisham. Our agent is optimistic about the prospects of getting some contract offers. September 14, 1999 - The Arkansas wing of the 15 city Hastings Tour goes very well as does the Mid-South Trade Show in Little Rock. Manchee prepares for big Upper Midwest Campaign with 12 stops plus Bouchercon 30, the World Mystery Conference. Sales of Death Pact are brisk. August 28, 1999 - Manchee gets another great review from the Dallas Observer. July 23, 1999 - Manchee and Death Pact subject of feature article in Arlington Morning News by John Hillman. July 13, 1999 - William Manchee launches his 51 city book tour to promote his latest novel, Death Pact, and his Stan Turner Mystery Series. The response to the new novel from book sellers and readers has been excellent and sales have been brisk. May 5, 1999 - Death Pact is back from the printer and looks great. It's already for sale on the internet. Official release will be in mid-June. Check it out. March 15, 1999 - Manchee creates new website for the Southwest Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America. February 10, 1999 - Manchee to appear at Left Coast Crime in Albuquerque, NM, March 5-7. He will also make several appearance in the Albuquerque area at Hastings and Barnes & Noble. January 27, 1999 - Death Pact has been submitted to the printer. Galleys should be back within 30 days. Tentative publication date is June 1, 1999. January 15, 1999 - William Manchee is elected to the at-large seat on the Board of Directors of the Southwest Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America. He also is elected Publicity Chairman for the organization. December 15, 1998 - William Manchee announces that he will be donating free copies of Undaunted during the Christmas Season to patients at nursing homes and retirement centers around the metroplex. He plans to continue the program throughout the year. December 14, 1998 - Twice Tempted Productions, Ltd. began distribution of its Private Placement Memorandum to interested investors. This is the first step in raising the necessary funds to film Twice Tempted, the movie. October 20, 1998. After 18 long months Top Publications has released Undaunted for distribution. The new version is a trade paperback selling for $12.95. Manchee reports that Undaunted sold out at both his signings at Hastings in Midland and Odessa. This brings back memories of a year ago when Undaunted set sales records in over a dozen Hastings stores. October 10, 1998 - William Manchee signed a record number of Brash Endeavor at Barnes & Noble in Irving on Saturday. His previous record was 25 at Sherman but with the heavy Irving Mall traffic he signed 31 books in his two hour stay before going to Borders in Lewisville for his second signing of the day. Manchee will be returning to Irving to meet with the Irving Women's Club - Book Club as well as the Irving Barnes & Noble Writers Group. October 4, 1998 - William Manchee is featured author at New Atlantic Booksellers Trade Show in Philadelphia signing near 100 books for members present. Over 730 booksellers were in attendance representing over 240 bookstores. In addition there were more than 30 media representatives in attendance. A large replica of the cover of Brash Endeavor was very conspicuous and created considerable interest.
